Local hotels cashing in on US Open
Golf fans will be flooding the area over the next week to check out the US Open at Oakmont, and along with them comes a rise in demand, and cost, of local hotels. From the Post-Gazette:
The Marriott in Cranberry is charging $549 a night for standard room on the night of the 16th, the eve of the final round, up from $189. But the near-tripling of price includes extra amenities including extended restaurant and bar hours, a "golf survival kit" of sunscreen and a visor, and twice a day turn-down service.
And it's not like the price is scaring anyone away. Corporate clients have been snapping up rooms, general manager Ron Antonucci said.
Like most hotels, it has a no-cancellation policy and a minimum four-day stay.
