Update: You should be able to see the calendar at Seneca Valley's official website (www.svsd.net) but the site has been down all day. In the meantime, see the link below for the Post-Gazette.
The school board agreed on a revised 2007-08 school year calendar last night to compensate for the five week strike that completed last week. The highlights are as follows:
- Thanksgiving Break is Thursday and Friday
- Christmas/New Year's break will run from December 24th through January 1st
- Spring Break has been eliminated
- Early dismissal for elementary students on January 17-18
- Half day for teachers and students February 15th
- Early dismissal for seniors to finish their senior projects May 28-29
- Non-Seniors last day of school is June 23rd
- Last day of school for Seniors is June 18th
Of course, this is subject to change based on the potential of another teacher strike this Spring. From the Post-Gazette:
[Superintendent Donald] Tylinski said a second revision of the school calendar could become necessary should teachers choose to strike a second time this school year. A second strike could last five days but would not be allowed to commence during the non-binding arbitration period, which generally takes up to 45 days to complete.
