Salsarita's closes

Salsarita's has shut its doors for good. Not sure when it happened, but a sign on the door says the location in the Cranberry Commons (by Target) is closed. Their website still lists the location, but the lack of a liquor license and the proximity to both On The Border and Moe's may have done them in. Along with Hereford & Hops, that's the second restaurant along restaurant row that has closed in the past couple months.

not mention mad mex (the only place I go for mex).

with all of these chains, I am not surprised -- survival of the fittest.

now -- how about an actual mall and, oh by the way, when the heck is the 228 work going to start?

they closed because of a lawsuit over the waterfront store they used to own. the owners owed money and weren't paying, so they were forced to shut down the cranberry location.

They closed in the Waterfront because they had very little business, which is the same reason they closed in Cranberry. Legal problems and bills were a result of money problems from such low customer volumes

It's no surprise that they closed. The food wasn't very good and the service was worse. I don't understand why the Cranberry area gets some of the worst chains/franchises. I just don't understand why we get Moe's and Salsarita's instead of Qdoba and Chipotle.

Salsaritas wasn't good - but don't lump Moe's in the same category. Chipotle and Qdoba both have decent food, but offer nothing for kids. Cranberry is primarily a family oriented area and that's exactly why Moe's fits in so well - along with having great food.

Why don't you try eating a little more authentic mexican than any of the fakes? Patron's in Wexford or El Toro in Zelienople are both fantastic, the others mentioned all pale in comparison.

If I'm looking for an evening out and want Mexican, agreed, Patron is a great option. If I want to spend under 8 bucks and have a big burrito for lunch, Patron isn't where I go. Having options a is good thing. I've never gotten the impression that the places you call fakes are even trying to be "authentic Mexican". Salsaritas may have tried moreso than the others...and that is probably why we are discussing their closure.
