From a couple sources, district negotiators and the teachers' representatives agreed to meet Wednesday afternoon in Pittsburgh to continue negotiations. From the Post-Gazette:
In the letter to the union, [Tom King, labor counsel for the school district] asked the teachers to come to today's meeting prepared to respond to one of nine previous contract proposals the district had made to the teachers.
[Butch Santicola, a Pennsylvania State Education Association spokesman] said the teachers have already responded to the district's proposals, but said they would make another response at today's meeting.
From the Tribune-Review:
On Tuesday, the state Department of Education said the district's teachers could remain off the job as long as four weeks without jeopardizing completion of the school year by the date required by law.
If the strike lasts until Nov. 15, students in the district would be able to complete 180 school days by June 15, the minimum number of days the state requires, said Michael Race, an Education Department spokesman.
